How to Take Care of Your Teeth When You Travel
· Make a dental travel bag. Make sure it contains toothbrushes, floss, mouthwash, and toothpaste. You can also bring the toothbrush holder just in case the hotel or where you’re your going doesn’t have anything to hold them in. Be sure to include extra dental items in it too in case you run out.
· If your traveling with family, put the toothbrushes in separate plastic zip lock bags to avoid bacteria build up and it depends on how long you will be traveling but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to sanitize the toothbrushes before every 5-10 uses, because where they will be in plastic bags the bacteria can build up, only do this until you get to where you’re going and then you can put the toothbrushes in the holders.
· You can also eat healthy snacks while on the road. Eating a lot of surgery foods is a bad idea since sugar can contribute to tooth decay. So, bring a cooler filled with carrots and broccoli and other healthy snacks to munch on while in the car. If you will be traveling with children you can cut up the veggies into sticks for easy snacking.
· While we are traveling its best to take bathroom breaks and get out to stretch from driving or riding in the car. Use those opportunities to take care of your teeth by brushing and floss them. You can also floss while you are riding (not driving) in the car so be sure to floss after each meal, every effort to take care of your teeth and to keep them clean helps.
At the end of your traveling and when you have reached your destination, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take the extra time to focus on your teeth and also help your children take care of their teeth. Be sure that you and your family flosses and brushes at least twice a day to keep your teeth and theirs healthy and free of bacteria.
